AdvoCats holds meeting, spay and neuter clinic
AdvoCats will hold a general meeting at 10:30 a.m. June 21 at the Kona Vistas community center on Pualani Street.
AdvoCats is a Hawaii County endorsed nonprofit trap-neuter-return organization, committed to solving the homeless cat problem in a humane way. The organization has spayed or neutered 15,000 cats. A spay and neuter clinic will be held June 25. Traps are available for those who need cats spayed or neutered and returned to the wild.

AARP driver safety class offered
An AARP Smart Driver class will be held at 1 p.m. June 23 at the Palisades Recreation Center on lower Kaiminani Drive.
This class is geared toward the older driver. It does not include driving or written tests. It covers subjects that may affect drivers as they age such as hearing, eye sight and reflexes. Participants may receive a discount on their car insurance.

Puuwaawaa Advisory Council meets Friday
The Puuwaawaa Advisory Council meets from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at the Lake House at Puuwaawaa Forest Reserve in North Kona.
The council consults with the Department of Land and Natural Resources about the ongoing management efforts at Puuwaawaa. This quarterly meeting will update the council on current education, research, and management efforts and will solicit advice on proposed management actions. Meetings are open to the public.
The meeting agenda will be posted at the lieutenant governor’s office, as well as on the DLNR meetings website and the Hawaii Experimental Tropical Forest website.
